Library update

Dear Parents, 

Assalamu Alaikum

It just seems like yesterday when we were all getting ready to greet the students on the first day of school. Now, June is just around the corner. Time has flown by, subhanAllah!

Please take note that the school library will be closing its student services starting Monday, June 2, 2014. For this reason, we would ask that all the students bring back their library book(s) no later than Friday, May 30, 2014. Please remind your child to bring his or her library book(s) before the deadline.

Math update

Dear Family,

In this unit, your child will be learning more about 2-D geometric figures, symmetry and patterns.

The Learning goals for this unit are to:

1. describe, sort, and compare 2-D figures according to the number of sides and number of vertices (corners)

2. Recognize figures that have symmetry, or matching parts.

3. Make patterns using materials and pictures of 2-D figures

4. Use positional language to describe movement and location: side to the left, turn, above, beside

You can help your child achieve these goals by doing the home connection activities suggested at the bottom of selected pages.

Math in class project

Dear Parents,

We are coming to the end of the unit of 3-D Geometry. As a fun project, the class and I would like to ask all the parents to donate any recycle box you have at home. We would like to have any recycled boxes such as cereal box, paper towel roll ( the inside), water bottles, juice cartons etc... We would like the recycled items by Monday May 12, 2014.

Students will have the option of creating one of the following:
1. rocket
2. castle
3. Mosque

We will need liquid glue and glue sticks for the project and any other item the student would like to bring to create the project is accepted. I'm looking forward to seeing their work. I will dedicate several classes to the project inshallah. Please provide anything you have at home that we can use as a class by Monday.

Dear Parents

Hope you are doing well and in the best of your health. Tomorrow there will be used book sale. It will be held in the Grad 6 A class. Please provide money with your child, the they would like to purchase any books. The book ranges from $0.50 - $4.00 :)

French Cafe

Dear Parents,

Assalam Alaikum,

Grades 6A and 6B students invite you to our French Café, Café de France, this coming Wednesday, May 07^th, 2014 Insha’a Allah.

 We will be serving light snacks and drinks that we find, usually, in a French café like: sandwiches, café (coffee), juice, popsicles, crêpes (French pancakes), gateau (cake) and biscuits (cookies). Prices range from $0.50 to $3.00

Students from grades 6A and 6B will be waiters and servers.

Please come celebrate with us our students’ success as this year, also, students from SK to grade 5 will perform songs, activities and plays in French throughout the day. Refer to The program for the schedule.

Proceeds from the sale will be donated back to the school.

Help us make this event a success.
