Dear Parents,
Please disregard the first form, the first hot lunch form has some mistakes on it. I will resend the hot lunch form inshallah today. Please for those of you who have sent the hot lunch form, just send the difference. Many of the students chose option 2 and has given $19. Option 2 is $22. If you can send the difference with your child for Friday February 28, 2014, it would be greatly appreciated. I will resend the form for the price adjustments. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
Thank you,
Tr. Merve

French update
Bonjour chers parents!
I hope that my email finds you in a good health and Iman,
Thank you for taking the time to watch your child’s portfolio presentation of the first French unit this year. We hope that you enjoyed the opportunity to share in your child’s accomplishments in French class so far. Today, your child began a new story unit in the French program. Our second unit is based on an experience of a girl who lives in Québec. She decides to visit her friend who lives in Paris. She ends up taking numerous methods of transportation in order to finally reach her destination. The story is entitled Comment y aller?(How do I get there?). Your child will continue to increase her/his vocabulary in French by using the Gesture Approach and will also review previously learned words with the associated gestures. Please encourage your child to continue to share with you what s/he is learning in French class. At the end of this unit, your child will make another presentation . Homework relating to this unit begins in the first week of the unit, and the initial homework is review of gestured vocabulary introduced in the first unit.
Please ask your child to:
1. read the story, Comment y aller?
2. read the activity sheets containing questions and other activities based on the story;
3. act out the story as a play, with puppets;
4. Sing the song, Comment y aller?;
5. show you the gestures s/he has learned .
6. read the two creative stories that will be written cooperatively by the class;
7. read the story retelling and story extension that will be written by your child.

math update
Dear Parents,
A quick update
We are currently reviewing 'Number Relationships". In the beginning of the year, we practiced counting and the place value mat. Unit 2 will allow the students to have a better understanding of place value mat. Your child in this unit will go over the following:
- read and print numbers words to 20
- build numbers with concrete materials
- estimate the number of objects and check by counting
- count forward to 100- and backward from 20 using count by 1s, 2s, 5s, and 25s.
You can help your child achieve these goals by doing the home connection activities suggested at the bottom of selected pages.
