Today and Yesterday's Classwork

Assalamu Alaikum,

We had a wonderful day today and yesterday alhamdulilah!

Students sounded beautiful today singing our friendship song for assembly (You Can Count on Me!)

Reading: Students maintained stamina while reading to self and they made verb mind maps where they wrote down verbs from the books they were reading.

Spelling: Yesterday students wrote their spelling quiz on the long vowel sound i, and the bonus was three words with the long vowel i.

Today we completed lesson 9 in our spelling books where we learned words with the long vowel sound u.

Math:Yesterday students showed what they know about numbers in their math journals. They answered questions about their favourite number and how many ways they can represent the number 25 (which is the total number of students in our class). They also completed a worksheet where they showed numbers in 10 frames, and wrote the number of tens and ones.

Today we completed page 15 in our math books after we figured out how many socks we are wearing altogether by making a T Chart (25 students are wearing 50 socks), students showed the number 50 in 4 different ways.

We also learned ordinal numbers today from first to twentieth by looking at the floors in a hotel. Students each took a hotel to write the ordinal numbers on each floor, colour the hotel, cut and paste it in their agendas.

Estimation Station Activity:

Yesterday Ameer took home an estimation jar with a parent letter that he will bring on Thursday insha'Allah. Students will take turns to take the jar home and get it filled. Please do not share the number with your child, so he/she can have fun taking part in the fun estimating activities we will be doing in class.

Library: Yesterday we had a great time in library lesson getting to learn the first step of the researching process, and practicing to write questions we need to find answers to, so we are ready to start our project next week.

Insha'allah T. Hina and I will be assigning the project to students next week, so you will know what your child is expected to do at home, and when his/her project is due. Tr. Nancy will be walking the students through each step of the project isA.

Science: Today students worked in groups to make mind maps about insects on chart paper.

Gym: Yesterday we played Dodge ball, and today we went to the park and played a game where each student got an ordinal number, and they had 20 seconds to line up in the right order!

Character Assembly: Yesterday we attended a Character  Assembly on Cleanliness. The grade 3 students did a great job in their presentation on Cleanliness Masha Allah!

Qura'n Homework:
  • Practice Surah Al-Ghashiyah Ayah 17-21.
Reminders:
  • Students have a spelling quiz on lesson 9 on Monday (long vowel sound u): rule, use, tune, mule, due, true, grew, few, you, cute
  •  Students should also learn the spelling of first, second and third for Monday's spelling quiz.

Have a great evening isA!
