We had a wonderful week last week alhamdulilah!
Vocabulary: On Wednesday, we played CHARADES to practice our vocabulary list. Students were divided into two teams, and they took turns to draw a word from the basket and pantomime it, the team that shouted out the right word first, got a point!
Reading: Sr. Madlien read "Desmond and the Very Mean Word", a great book that teaches children about being forgiving and how discrimination is not acceptable.
Writing: Each student chose 5 words from our vocabulary list, and they wrote the definition of each or gave examples to explain the words.
Math: On Wednesday, Students worked independently to complete a math worksheet on bar graphs. Each student made his/her own bar graph by coming up with 3 scales. Then, they completed page 21 in their math books where they answered questions about their bar graphs.
On Thursday, students worked in groups to conduct a survey and record results. Then, each student worked independently to show results in a bar graphs (they were reminded to use TAILS).
On Friday, we read the definition of SURVEY, and each student wrote a survey question in their math books.
Science: We played "Catch the Puppet" to revise the characteristics of the different animal groups we learned about.
We watched videos about AMPHIBIANS and discussed their characteristics. We also read about them, and students completed a worksheet about the characteristics of amphibians.
Health: We learned that there is no such thing as good food and bad food, but rather we call it "EVERYDAY FOOD" and SOMETIMES FOOD". We also learned about Balanced DIETS. Students worked in groups to cutout pictures of different foods from flyers and paste them in right the category (everyday or sometimes), and they made a balanced meal or snack. Then each group presented their work in front of the class. Masha'Allah they all did a fabulous job!
Islamic Studies: We made mind maps as a class about QURAN, HADEETH and PROPHET MOHAMMED (SAW). The second day, students did a graffiti activity about all three.
