Today's Classwork and Homework

Assalamu Alaikum,

We had a wonderful day today!

We started our day by agreeing on one goal (end in mind) that we would like to achieve by the end of the day, and we agreed to each cheer someone up and put a smile on a face :)

Reading: Today while students were reading they did a noun hunt where each student looked for common and proper nouns in his/her book. Students maintained stamina for 25 minutes masha'Allah!
While students were reading, I worked with some students on the DRA.

Gym: We went to the gym and played Follow the Leader and FAST!

Math: Today we learned to use WIN (words, illustrations and numbers) when solving math problems. We solved a growing pattern word problem as a class using a 3 column table, and we discussed what we used to solve the problem (e.g. I used words, illustrations and numbers.)

Students solved growing pattern word problems in their math journals, and wrote what they used to solve them (WIN).

Science: Students worked in groups, and each group made a mind map about birds where they write birds in the center of their map and it branches out to characteristics and types of birds. 3 groups presented their mind maps in front of the class.

Social Studies: Today we watched a video about the earth (7 continents and oceans).

IsA by the end of our first unit in social studies, students should be able to:
  • Identify and locate continents, significant bodies of water, the equator, poles, and hemispheres on maps or globes.
  •  understand  and use cardinal directions
  • develop their ability to use appropriate elements of maps(e.g., a title, symbols in a legend, direction, scale[non-standard],and colour) to help extract information and/or when constructing maps for specific purpose.
Homework:

Homework pack is due on Wednesday.

Have a great evening!
